Interviewing at Sentrana: What to expect
You've been invited to interview with Sentrana — now what? Clearly we think you have an exceptional background, or you wouldn't have made it this far. But a resume, professional experience, and academic record don't tell us how your mind works or what kind of colleague you will be. Getting to meet you personally is the most important part of our process.
We use interviews to learn more about your personality and to see if you fit in with the intellectual climate at Sentrana. In order to succeed here, you must be able to see the root cause behind a stated problem and devise a solution that is creative and analytically sound as well as practical. The interview process gives us a better sense of how your mind breaks down complex tasks and allows us to gauge your ability to deal with uncertainty and react to changing circumstances. Whether you are fresh out of college or an experienced hire, we want to see how you handle real-world challenges where the solution must be feasible as well as theoretically justified.
The Process
After screening all applicants, a cross-disciplinary Sentrana team interviews all qualified individuals. Interviews take place on-campus for undergrad and MBA applicants as well as in our offices. For the universities at which Sentrana recruits on-campus, we conduct several 30 to 45-minute case interviews on campus. Candidates invited to return will interview in our Washington, DC headquarters for a half-day final round interview session. During the final round, you will also have plenty of opportunities to meet our team and get a sense of what it's like to work here. For undergraduates attending universities where we are not pursuing on-campus recruiting efforts this year and for experienced hires, we conduct interviews in our Washington, DC headquarters.
The Interview
Candidates can expect different interview formats based on the role for which they are interviewing. Engineering and Quantitative Modeling candidates will be presented with problems similar to the ones that we face with our clients every day and asked to provide and defend a solution that demonstrates familiarity with relational database architecture and algorithms.
Candidates interviewing for a position within the Solutions Architecture team should be prepared for a case interview that will test your ability to conceptualize performance through the use of various metrics, especially when perfect metrics may not be available. The case interview can be daunting for those who haven't experienced it before. So prepare, get comfortable with the format, and practice.
